Day work is coming to the Los Alamitos Trunk Sewer project.

 

Construction work is set to begin on Oak Street in the City of Los Alamitos the week of June 13. Daywork will begin with potholing to identify underground utilities.  Once that is completed, four manholes along Oak St. from Sausalito Street to Katella Avenue will be rehabilitated. To perform the work, we will need to install steel beams for the shoring and excavate the area around the manholes. Traffic control will be required around the construction zone.

 

  • When:  Week of June 13th – July 2022*
  • Where: Oak St. from Sausalito St. to Katella Ave.(see map below)
  • Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Occasional Saturday work may be required.
  • What to Expect: Lane reductions and parking restrictions.

Night work continues along southbound Los Alamitos Blvd./Seal Beach Blvd. for pipe cleaning and chemical grouting which helps reinforce the pipe. This work is done at night when sewer flows are low.
Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.* Once this work is completed, manhole rehabilitation efforts will commence.

 What to Expect:

  • Periodic traffic delays as a result of lane reductions and turn restrictions
  • Increased noise level

Project Description

OC San is rehabilitating two parallel sewers on north and southbound Seal Beach Blvd./ Los Alamitos Blvd., and along Katella Avenue, Oak Street, and Lexington Drive in the cities of Seal Beach and Los Alamitos. The work consists of removing calcium buildup at various pipe joints and injecting chemical grout to strengthen the pipe. Rehabilitation and/or replacement of over 70 manholes will also take place.
